GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR TYPED PAPERS 1. For the text of the paper, choose a standard, easily readable font and size ( such as
Times New Roman, size 12).2. Except for page numbers, leave margins of one inch at the top and bottom and on both
sides of the text.3. Indent the first word of a paragraph 1/2 inch (or five spaces) from the left margin.
4. Indent set-off quotations one inch (or ten spaces) from the left margin.
5. Double-space throughout, including quotations, notes, and the list of works cited.
6. Use only one side of the paper.
7. Number all pages consecutively throughout the paper in the upper right hand corner,
1/2 inch from the top and flush with the right margin (which is one inch from the edge of
the paper).
